San Francisco Disco Revival Up on Beatportal

Hey kids, I just posted a new entry on Beatportal about "the San Francisco Disco Revival," and I'm super-pleased with it. I've been working on it for almost two weeks (doing the links today took an hour alone), it's the first thing where I've been able to "interview" people (though via email), and it's my best attempt so far, in my opinion, to develop a more polished voice (and attitude) while still trying to answer the question of what it all means (and the potential implications of that). If you check it out and have any comments, please make them there, as it will help keep the entry alive for a little while longer and might spark some discussions with the larger global community that reads Beatportal.

Check Out My Posts on Beatportal!

As of today your's truly is the San Francisco correspondant for Beatportal, the content site associated with the Beatport music download service. My first post is up now, a brief history of the San Francisco club scene over the past eight years, with shout outs to some classic crews, the San Francisco Late Night Coalition, and other folks surely familiar to all you local yahoos. I've got several more posts in the queue, including overviews of the psytrance, techno, and gay scenes that you might want to check out. I'll still be blogging here about more local matters, while over at Beatport I'll be going for the broader picture of interest to the (woo-hoo!) global Beatportal audience.

Coming Soon to a Beatportal Near You

Some of you may be familiar with Beatport, the DJ-oriented music download site. A few of you might also be familiar with Beatportal, the sister site that focuses on scene news, info about new gear, and all the other kinds of content that might be of interest to the electronic music producer and afficiando. Well, guess who is the now the San Francisco correspondant for Beatportal? Yes, you guessed right, it's me! I'm working on my initial posts right now, focusing on giving some overviews of our little old scene, and those will be up as soon as the new Beatportal interface is ready, probably within the next two weeks or so. I'll post more info up here when my posts are published there, but you can expect to see some content that I'll be writing exclusively for that blog like scene guides and scenester profiles in addition to event reveiws and scene news. Of course, I'll still be writing here as well for all you local folks, and the Friday and Saturday Night Guides, as well as upcoming event info, will stay exclusive to SFScene. So, when you're bored at work, you'll now have two places to go check out for your daily dose of the Jaded Gay DJ!
